The legal profession suffers from rates of substance abuse at significantly higher rates than other professions. Substance abuse problems of all kinds have become more prevalent and pronounced during the COVID-19 pandemic, and law firms are not immune.

This session for all law firm personnel will examine the nature of the problem using both personal and professional perspectives, and then will review in some detail available resources, coping strategies, and solutions. At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify addiction – and identify with addiction – in ways that might help them help others (or themselves);
  • Assist and support those suffering from addiction; and
  • Explore the possibility of being agents of institutional and cultural change in the struggle with addiction.
