Speakers Include:

Katina Thornock
Vice President – Litigation Counsel, Providence

Katina Thornock serves as Vice President, Senior Litigation Counsel for Providence, one of the largest nonprofit healthcare systems in the U.S. comprised of over 120,000 caregivers serving in 51 hospitals and 1,085 clinics and providing a range of health and social services across five states. Katina is responsible for helping centralize the litigation function and providing key strategic advice and guidance to executives across Providence’s healthcare system. She also serves on the Department of Legal Affairs Leadership Committee. Prior to joining Providence, Katina served as Director, Managing Corporate Counsel, Litigation at Starbucks Coffee Company in Seattle, Washington where she led the team responsible for complex commercial, real estate, intellectual property, general liability, and Americans with Disabilities Act litigation on behalf of the enterprise. Katina was a key advisor to internal business units at Starbucks, including Risk Management, Store Development and Global Operations. Prior to joining Starbucks, she gained extensive litigation experience at the Reed McClure and Cozen O’Connor law firms and in the Prosecuting Attorneys Offices of King and Pierce Counties. Katina graduated from the University of Washington and Seattle University School of Law. She was a 2014 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow and currently serves on the boards of Washington Alliance for Better Schools and Seattle Children’s Theatre. She is passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion and frequently speaks on issues of diversity in the legal profession. Katina lives in the Seattle area with her husband and three sons. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, traveling (when safe) and spending time outdoors with her family and friends.

RRachel Lukeachel Luke
Associate Attorney, Friedman Rubin PLLP

Rachel Luke is an associate attorney at Friedman Rubin PLLP. She represents clients in complex products liability, personal injury, aviation, and insurance bad faith litigation.

Rachel graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 2009, where she was the Managing Editor of the Seattle Journal for Social Justice and Vice President of the Black Law Student Association. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington. Rachel has served on the Loren Miller Bar Association’s judicial evaluation committee, as co-chair of the Washington State Association for Justice Diversity Committee, on the Board of Trustees the King County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, as Treasurer of the Korean American Bar Association of Washington, and she currently volunteers as a pro bono attorney for the Sexual Violence Law Center.

Having grown up locally, Rachel lives in Seattle with her husband and two daughters who also love the Pacific Northwest. Her hobbies include backpacking and hiking, fishing, trying new foods, and watching UW football.

Judy Hissong
President, Nesso Strategies

Judy Hissong is the President of Nesso Strategies. A former law firm Chief Operating Officer, she helps firms become more profitable by advising leaders in strategic and leadership development challenges. Her mission is “world domination for Good.” By creating actionable, lightbulb moments that leaders want to share and spread, she intends to improve the world one person at a time. When she’s not speaking, training and consulting, Judy teaches quarterly online workshops and facilitates Leaders Lab, a free monthly video conference that enables small groups of leaders to brainstorm strategies and solutions to work through common issues that keep firms stuck.

Jon Washburn
Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Stoel Rives, LLP

Jon Washburn leads Stoel’s ISO 27001-certified information security and governance program, ensuring policies, controls, operational processes, and training programs reduce IT risk and meet client and regulatory requirements. As a resource for Stoel’s Privacy and Data Security practice, Jon draws on more than 20 years of experience to assist the team with risk assessments, incident response, identifying policy and process improvements and evaluating information systems architecture and security programs. He spends considerable time volunteering with the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) and the Legal Services Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (LS-ISAO), where he serves on the Executive Committee.
