Please join us on March 3 for a discussion with our fellow chapter member, Ann Callahan, SHRM-SCP, CLM on the topic of employee handbooks. Whether you are just getting started with creating a handbook or need to update yours, this will be an informative and motivating session.
Having created four employee handbooks for different employers and different industries over the course of the last 25 years, Ann has some experience, and a few opinions, on the purpose and the process. An employee handbook can be many things. For example, tech industries seem to focus on topics such as mentorship and opportunities for innovation (e.g., ping pong tables). Here in the legal industry, we seem to focus on…legal aspects of employment. But there are cultural norms to be found here as well.
This presentation will touch on the purpose and style of handbooks, and the options for physical vs digital; along with suggestions for using project management techniques to actually get the handbook done!
Feel free to email Ann at acallahan@helsell.com with burning questions in advance or bring them with you to the presentation.
