Ann Callahan, SHRM – SCP, SPHR, CLM is the Human Resources Manager at Helsell Fetterman LLP, a long established ‎Seattle firm of 40 attorneys.  She has been with the firm since 2007, attending an ALA meeting on ‎her first day with the firm.  Ann is a Past President of the Puget Sound ‎Chapter and has served in several board positions since joining.  While President of the Puget ‎Sound chapter, she became a CLM (Certified Legal Manager).  Prior to working in the legal field, ‎Ann was a Human Resources professional in the travel industry for 13 years, earning her SPHR ‎certification (Senior Professional in Human Resources) along with a depth of experience in ‎organizational change.  She holds a B.A. from Western Washington University.‎

Information Security Officer - Stoel Rives LLP

As Information Security Officer, Jon Washburn manages the firm’s information governance and security program in alignment with established national and international standards and the firm’s strategic plan. Jon acts as the firm’s “Compliance Officer” and works directly with the Chief Operating Officer and Firm Counsel to maintain a strong enterprise information governance and security posture through policy, strategy, operational processes and training programs.

A resource for the firm’s Privacy & Data Security practice, Jon draws on his more than 20 years of IT, information security and information governance experience to assist the team with performing risk assessments, evaluating information systems architecture and security controls, and identifying information governance process improvements that may reduce the likelihood of a data breach.

Since 1997, Jon has held a number of IT infrastructure, security and information management leadership roles, successfully deploying national and international technology and data governance solutions while collaborating with other leaders to transform the culture of the legal industry.

Director of Talent Acquisition

Dorianna Phillips is Stoel Rives’ Director of Talent Acquisition. She provides strategic direction to and oversight of the firm’s Recruiting Department and develops, implements and manages strategies and processes to advance the firm’s strategic talent recruiting imperatives. In this role, Dorianna works closely with firm leadership, including the department and practice group leaders, and chief and office administrators, in achieving firm-wide consistency in recruiting strategies, processes and policies.

Dorianna is a member of the firm’s Administrative Management Team and its Diversity and Inclusion Committee and works with committees firm wide to design and implement programs to facilitate the firm’s goal of recruiting and retaining talented lawyers and staff.

Erle’s diverse experience has included working as a legislative aide to a U.S. Congressman, management consulting for an international public accounting firm and overseeing finance and administration at a real estate services firm. Erle has over 20 years experience as the principal administrator of several major law firms.  As the firm’s chief operating officer, Erle is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the firm. He has general management responsibility for all business of law issues, oversees business development and attorney/agent hiring, and assumes a lead role in the firm’s strategic and organization planning. Erle is a member of Seed  IP’s Management and Compensation Committees.

Office Administrator

Tara Ghannam Binge, SHRM-SCP, SHRM is the Office Administrator of the Seattle and Anchorage offices of Stoel Rives, a firm dating back to 1883  with more than 350 attorneys.  She is active in the local legal community and is the President of the Puget Sound Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators.  Tara has over two decades of experience in the legal industry and is specialized in human resources management, leadership, time management and organizational change.

April Campbell is the Director of Administration of McCullough Hill Leary, PS. She has been a member of ALA since 2005, during which time she has held roles in both large and small law firms as legal staff supervisor, pro bono manager, operations manager and director of administration. Before her career in legal management, she practiced as an attorney.  Her leadership in ALA includes many roles at the Association level and within the Puget Sound Chapter. She currently serves as the President of ALA.

 

Brian Gilman

Brian Gilman began his career in 1982 as a Certified Public Accountant, subsequently accumulating 30 years as a financial and operations executive in telecom, financial services, and non-profit industries, with the past 16 years in the legal profession.  He is experienced in providing leadership in both strategic planning and operations management. Currently the Chief Operating Officer at the law firm of Smith Debnam in Raleigh, NC, Mr. Gilman has served the North Carolina Bar Association as a member of both the Law Practice Management Council and the Transitioning Lawyers Commission, and has served terms on the North Carolina Bar 10th District Grievance Committee and the Virginia Bar 4th District Disciplinary Committee.  He currently sits on the BB&T Payment Solutions Advisory Board and the Midtown Raleigh Alliance Board of Directors.  His ALA service includes President of the Raleigh-Durham Chapter and four years on its Board, the ALA Regional Nominating Committee, Region 2 Representative, and currently an At-Large Director on the ALA Board of Directors.  In 2010, Mr. Gilman earned the Certified Legal Manager designation.

Helene Cho is a dynamic facilitator, certified coach, and author who helps individuals and organizations to thrive. She specializes in leadership development, change management and life-work balance.

She has over 25 years of experience in her field, serving in leadership positions in Fortune 500 companies for 13 years, including Vice President for Golden West Financial Corporation and Vice President for Drake Beam Morin Inc, an international consulting company.

She started Synergy Consulting and Training in 1993, where she specializes in coaching, retreat facilitation, and leadership development.  She has worked with over a hundred different teams to assist them in building and maintaining successful and diverse teams. Helene specializes in working with individuals as well as facilitating group workshops and retreats.  She has coached over 500 clients in diverse industries and positions.

Helene holds a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University and has lived in Asia, Africa, and Europe giving her a rich cultural and professional experience base. Her book, Hamster on the Wheel; Cultivating Life-Work Balance was published in 2010.  Her community work includes serving as a Board Member at the Crisis Clinic, Volunteer at Children’s Hospital and Center for Spiritual Living.

Helene is a Certified Facilitator in MBTI (Myers Briggs),Virtual Training, and NetSpeed Learning Solutions.

Pat Hughes is an enthusiastic facilitator, leadership educator and consultant who has worked for the past 25 years with individuals, organizations and communities to increase their leadership capacity. Pat owns Trillium Leadership Consulting in Seattle, where she provides customized leadership programs, leadership and executive coaching, and facilitation services.

Pat is also a Senior Partner at the Center for Ethical Leadership. She is the author of the Center’s best-selling book Gracious Space: A Practical Guide for Working Better Together, and the lead author of Courageous Collaboration with Gracious Space: From Small Openings to Profound Transformation.

Pat works primarily with non-profit, public sector, health care and educational organizations, including Neighborhood House, Sound Transit, WA Developmental Disabilities Administration, and numerous independent schools. She is a member of the UW Professional and Organizational Development External Consultant Team. She also frequently contributes articles to leadership-related publications.

Pat is certified as a Professional Coach, and in Emotional Intelligence (EQ2.0), the Conflict Dynamics Profile (Eckerd College), Dependable Strengths, Communication Styles, Institute for Cultural Affairs ToP and Strategic Planning Models, and Toastmasters International.

She previously served as the Director of Curriculum Development for the Center for Ethical Leadership in Seattle, and the director of the Leadership Institute in Redmond, Wash., (now Leadership Eastside), where she won the 1998 Distinguished Community Leader Award and the 2001 Diversity Award.

Pat holds an M.A. in Organization Systems Renewal from Antioch University with an emphasis on leadership development and change management, and a B.A. in Economics and International Relations from the University of New Hampshire with an emphasis on women’s economy in developing nations.

In her personal time, Pat enjoys hiking, skiing, cycling, kayaking, reading, gardening and bird watching. She lives in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle with her husband and daughter.

Arun Mistry

Arun is currently Chief Operating Officer at Williams Kastner. In a career spanning over 20 years within the legal industry,  he has held a variety of roles, both internal within firms, as well as external with legal industry vendors. His experience has been both domestic and international. Throughout his career, several themes have emerged and stayed consistent; leadership, strategic thinking and entrepreneurship, relationship building, and results. Arun is currently the President-Elect of the PSALA, having formerly been the VP of Education.
